Creating phpinfo pages

Expertise level: Easy

To find all the required information about the PHP and Apache installed on the server, you can create a phpinfo file to your web directory.

The file will contain information about the PHP modules, PHP variables, Apache modules, Apache variables, environment variables etc.

To view that information, follow these steps:

  • Login to your server as root on a SSH session
  • Create a file named phpinfo.php and reset its permissions in your web directory as follow:
touch phpinfo.php
chmod 644 phpinfo.php
  • With a text editor, open the file and add the following text:
<?php
phpinfo();
?>

(You can just as easily create a text file with the same content, rename the file as phpinfo.php and upload it via FTP to your web folder)

Now access the url http://yourdomain.com/phpinfo.php in the web browser.

All required information will be displayed.
