Changing root passwords in WHM

Expertise level: Easy

The root user account is the administrator account for the server. When connected as the root user, you have unlimited power on the server.

It is always recommended to change your root password on a regular basis. Always be sure to choose a password that is sufficiently strong: at least eight characters, mixed case, and a mix of letters and numbers.

Please note that changing the password in WHM will change both the WHM login password and the SSH password.

Start by logging into WHM as root.

Open the "Server Configuration" menu.

Click on "Change Root Password".

Type in your new root password, and confirm it by entering it a second time.

Be sure to keep your new password securely.
